Pranayama workshop with Eleonora Shishmanova

Pranayama is one of the eight limbs of yoga as described by Patanjali in his Yoga Sutras (verses), which originate in India more than 2000 years ago and are one of the key texts for the study and practice of Yoga.
Eleonora practises and teaches safe Pranayama techniques introducing a gentle Ujjayi breath to create a state of balance and evenness, known in Sanskrit as a state of Samatva.
There have been studies proving that Pranayama is very beneficial for people with depression, panic attacks and anxiety, hypothyroidism, post-trauma or post-cancer, and chemotherapy recovery, and others. People who regularly practice Pranayama have reported improvement in their physical practice. Focusing on the breath will bring lightness and a flowing quality in your practice.
There are many benefits of ujjayi breathing: improving your concentration, releasing tension throughout the body, regulating heating and cooling of the body, gently warming the core from the inside. The overall effect will be on the mind. As the breath settles and you achieve a state of balance and harmony, the mind becomes calm and you may notice that the constant flow of thoughts slows down or completely disappears for the time you are in that state. Additional benefits of Ujjayi pranayama include diminished pain from headaches, relief of sinus pressure, decrease in phlegm, and strengthening of the nervous and digestive systems.
Eleonora has been teaching Pranayama for the last 15 years. Most of her general workshops include at least one hour of Pranayama before the Asana practice.

Why Sun Salutations ? Why 108?
In Sanskrit, Sun Salutations are referred to as “Surya Namaskar” and were traditionally practiced to usher in the new day, hence the name. Surya Namaskar’ means to ‘bow to the sun’ and is traditionally practiced at sunrise facing the sun to bring in and give thanks for the energy of ‘Prana’ (which in Sanskrit means ‘life force.’)
‘Prana’ is what gives vitality to every living thing and is what connects us all. By honouring and connecting with this life giving energy we bring ourselves back to presence and connection.

The number 108 is sacred and significant in many ways, appearing in many disciplines from astronomy to yoga.
The number 108 appears in ancient, sacred texts. For example, there are 108 Upanishads and 108 Tantras
In numerology, 108 equals 9, which symbolizes universal love, eternity and awakening
In Ayurveda, there are 108 sacred points on the body🌿
In astronomy, the distance between the Sun and Earth is roughly 108 times the Sun’s diameter🌞
Mala bead necklaces have 108 beads, which are used to count during meditation.

It is believed that the fire (internal heat) that you build during this practice is cleansing, detoxifying, and gets you more in touch with yourself. If you practice with a positive mantra, like “I am at peace,” then you may see significant changes in your mood and perspective.

A Journey through Sacred Sound into Silence

Join our guest facilitator Ali 10th of October 3.15pm to explore sound as a form of deep relaxation, meditation and self healing. As summer draws to a close we may find space for new beginnings and self reflection.
In this 2.5 hour workshop we invite you to dive inwards and tap into your own inner wisdom, your own healing resources.
You also can spoil yourself by joining our Yin Yoga class afterwards.
The afternoon begins with some simple postures and balancing pranayamas to help us settle body and mind. Then you’ll snuggle into an extended shavasana for the sound journey. This is an accessible form of meditation where we set our sankalpa (resolve) then simply follow the sound as it slows the brainwaves and awakens our consciousness. Meanwhile every cell and organ of the body listens and recharges, soaking up the complex overtones and powerful vibrations.
Ali works mostly with the gongs which represent the primordial sound of AUM, the sound which may lead us back to inner silence and one-ness. She also weaves in the pure tones of 432hz crystal bowls, elemental instruments like rain sticks, shakers and flutes, as well as her voice.

The program takes places on some Fridays 6:30 – 9:00pm  and 10:30 – 6:00pm on Saturday and Sunday’s.

  • Learn how to teach a 60 min. Vinyasa yoga class using dialogue, verbal cues and hands on adjustments
  • Explore different teaching styles, the characteristic of a good yoga teacher, understand the type of yoga teacher you want to be and build your confidence and “unique voice” as an instructor
  • Examine postural alignment, gain a deeper understanding of how yoga postures should be performed and understand how to correct common misalignments and perform modifications (verbally and physically)
  • Learn about anatomy, kinesiology and physiology and apply them to yoga
  • Understand the different physical and mental benefits delivered by yoga
  • Further your own practice by taking part in yoga classes, broaden your knowledge of different yoga styles and begin to make yoga part of your daily life including practicing meditation
  • Understand basic first aid and how to keep your students safe. Gain an insight into medical conditions that would inhibit the practice of hot yoga/yoga, in particular pregnancy
  • Explore the history of yoga, examine different yoga forms and where they originated from, and study yoga philosophy
  • Understand the business of yoga and how to make a career out of being a yoga teacher


Become A Teacher

While focusing on equipping you to teach Vinyasa yoga, the course will provide a solid foundation from which you can continue to explore other forms of yoga. You will be taught how to create and teach a vinyasa class based on the principals of alignment and the ancient practice of ashtanga vinyasa. This means you’ll have everything you need to begin teaching at all types of yoga and fitness establishments upon graduation and begin your journey as a yoga teacher.
